At London Parks & Gardens Trust volunteers carry out a wide range of roles depending on their own interests and abilities, from Area Co-ordinators for Open Garden Squares Weekend to Website Manager, and from Membership Secretary to organising activities and undertaking research. As a volunteer you should be given a role description, which outlines what work you will be doing and how that fits within the wider team.
Our volunteers represent all ages and abilities; they come from all over London and from all backgrounds, bringing a variety of skills and experiences. What unites them is a passion for London and its historic green spaces, as well as a desire to work together to increase understanding and concern for them.
Volunteering has many benefits for both you as a volunteer and for us as an organisation. We believe it's educational, inspirational and fun. It's also a great opportunity to meet new and like-minded friends.

The Trust is fortunate to have use of Duck Island Cottage as its h.q. and office. The Cottage is owned by The Royal Parks.
Our Planning & Conservation Working Group is looking for volunteers willing to join the group as active members.
The group's main remit is to draft responses to planning applications which affect London's parks, gardens and green spaces (historic or otherwise) on behalf of the Trust, in its role as statutory consultee. (for The Gardens Trust).
We are especially interested in volunteers with knowledge of the planning system and historic environment issues, however the main requirements are passion and enthusiasm for the subject, a willingness to learn and the ability to commit some time, however much as you are able.
If you are interested, please contact: Sally Prothero at email@example.com
One of the most important activities of the Trust is its research into London's parks, gardens and open spaces. The Research Group is friendly, lively and very active; we meet in central London every few months to report on research findings, attend training days and educational visits, and share good research practice. Our all-important research findings feed into not only our local Inventory of London Historic Spaces but also the national Parks & Gardens UK resource.

Every year we are looking for volunteers for Open Garden Squares Weekend in June. Their main duties are to welcome visitors, check and sell tickets, and ensure that the garden is treated with respect.
No one has to be on duty for more than half a day and every volunteer receives a free ticket to the whole two-day event.
If you are able to help, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
