London's green heritage

A Collection of Walks and Cycle Rides

Explore a whole host of lesser-known gardens and green spaces in the capital with our series of walks and cycle rides.

Using our guides (produced with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage), you will discover a range of garden squares, small parks, churchyards and community gardens, which together reflect the history of London from Roman times to the present day.

You can now download two audio guides (podcasts) to London's green heritage.  These are suitable for playing on portable MP3 players while you visit the sites.

As well as the guides, our Short History of London's Garden Squares looks at the development of these important and beautiful garden spaces, from their 17th century beginnings to the present day.

Much of the information in the walks and rides comes from the London Parks & Gardens Trust's London Inventory of Historic Green Spaces, a database of over 2,300 sites.

To order printed copies of the leaflets and/or squares booklet, please use the Publications Order Form.

All due care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of information in these walks and rides, which are offered in good faith. Please advise us of any changes or inaccuracies you may encounter by emailing us.

The London Parks & Gardens Trust relies heavily on subscriptions and donations to continue its work in promoting and protecting London's green spaces. The leaflets are provided free of charge, but a donation towards our costs is welcome!
